Tactile Illusion

Texture intrigues us to get tactile, up close and personal with surfaces that may have taken just seconds to create or hundreds of years to form.   Imagine you had never seen this kitchen, imagine you were blindfold and asked to describe or even name the material placed in front of you!   The deep channels formed naturally within the material to help sustain the organisms life along with the pleasant surface temperature may allow your finger tips to correctly identify the material as being wood.   But when you open your eyes the picture is not how you imagined. The treatment of this solid oak celebrates its natural form while camouflaging its identity as something else.   Stone, plaster and manmade could all be visual assumptions but the careful positioning of this ageless texture against more refined finishes gives this concept an artistic and forward thinking edge!

Justify

Within every kitchen design there is compromise, an agreed armistice between conflicting elements that can only be brokered on a very personal level.   The battle raging between form and function can evoke some opinionated outbursts, but after consideration and reflection every design will find its natural equilibrium. Creating lines that deviate from conventional 90 degree angles will help deliver a strong aesthetic presence.   In this instance the unconventional approach is amplified by using monochrome accents that give this kitchen a futuristic feel.   The compromise for creating this look is the purposeful restriction of natural cabinetry size and the complications that will arise when placing internal drawer systems! Justification in the form of client satisfaction always repels criticism! The Mogul loves this one!

Tattoo

The kitchen you own and use can be seen as a reflection of who you are and what you aspire to be.   And just like receiving a tattoo, the permanence of this outward and artistic expression of self can be the result of a lengthy and considered design process.   Having faith in your style convictions will determine whether or not you choose a personally expressive kitchen like this.

Outside the box!

Here we have an example of “thinking outside the box” – literally!   The tried and tested box wall unit has been replaced with an inspired array of stainless steel cylinders.     The varied depth and size of each individual compartment presents an interesting and artistic alternative to a flat panelled door. The only drawback might be the fact that your wears are on view and that spills might be difficult to clean....but this is an exception example of kitchen design evolution! Briliant!

Vibrantly Defiant Art Form

Infinite knowledge is impossible as each human soul wandering the planet will have subjective experiences that will help to form their norms, values, tastes and sense of style.   But although we’re all different humans can sometimes find consensus, an agreement, a bench mark and an accepted standard! It is therefore fitting that the kitchen we think we know should become reshaped into something more abstract, a more vibrantly defiant art form, which may appear alien to many, but maps out the progressive direction that kitchen design is taking. This is a splendid example of how kitchen design is changing.   This is a play with shapes and colours but also a realisation that functionality does not need to be restricted by architecture, design or expectations.     The two dimensional layering is great creating steps within the design and adding colour just increases the sensory pleasure. Absolutely fantastic!!

Stealth Bomber

The seamless angular lines and un-conformist approach give this design an art house feel; blurring its functional identity and allowing it to slip under the radar just like a stealth bomber.

Canvas Kitchen

You have to ask; at what point does the kitchen end and the art begin?!   The answer will be found at the source of intellectual inspiration and the empathetic understanding of another’s needs. The kitchen is art! The modern kitchen is becoming a canvas for individual expressionism!   Go on...express yourself!
Artistic kitchen design...the effect is amplified by the architecture.  The Mogul likes this idea but would question the funtionality!
