Wood and Steel!

This is a powerful design showcasing beauty and strength as well as an impressive portion of human imagination.   There is an unspoken contradiction between the materials here which works wonderfully allowing the smooth, polished steel to merge seamlessly with the raw and unrefined beauty of wood.   Boasting a seven meter oak dining table and an impressively curvaceous stainless steel bridging element the sheer scale of this design is inspiring.   This kitchen dominates the entire internal and external space, replacing the need for traditional furniture and providing a quirky fusion of precision engineering and nature.   In the beauty stakes it appears nature is taking on the power of machines and winning! The design has also been allowed to meander throughout the architecture even breaking free and escaping beyond its traditional architectural confines.    The impressive architectural getaway appears to run seamlessly though the glass panels creating internal and external seating opti

Battle of Isengard Kitchen

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and sometimes real beauty can only be uncovered by looking beneath the surface.   Contemporary kitchens have been criticised for being cold and heartless but this little gem balances the scale, making us reflect on how the world was before high gloss lacquer and standard doors sizes! To those in the audience who believe that creating a bespoke kitchen involves introducing an off size wine rack into the design; please pay attention!   This is a truly bespoke kitchen.     The Mogul totally understands that this design will not appeal to the masses; in-fact The Mogul can almost hear the horrified gasps as your retina focuses on the screen!   But this is a kitchen that has been pondered over, a beloved creation that was inspired by the architectural structure into which it would be placed long before the teeth of any saw blade touched the drying sap of the alder wood!   Look at the detailing on the doors and appreciate the precision and thought that

Wood and Stone

Natural elements can bring out the basic instinct within us allowing innate, subconscious memories to surface.   No two materials do this better than wood and stone. This design emphasises the simplicity of the chosen materials by omitting the wall units and introducing some “plank like” shelving along the back wall.   This brilliantly clean feature gives the end user the option of displaying some of their personal functionality, making the space their own!   The overall effect is enhanced by the having two opposing, plinth-less monoliths that are harnessed together by the tall, recessed units along the right hand wall.   The overall effect is to create an impressively minimal but functionally adaptable space. Enter some asymmetry!   A two legged table that cosy’s up to the island and off-sets the picture.   This feature is very strong and could easily accommodate a long line of hungry mouths.   Just as well the cook is protected within the eddy of function behind the island!

Hey Blue Eyes!

Mick De Giulio is argued to be one of the best kitchen designers in America and going by this example it is easy to see why he is in the running.   This design says a lot of things to the viewer and The Moguls knee jerk reaction is to shout out medieval contemporary!   Contemporary because of the dark wood slab doors, mixture of t-bar and recessed grip handles and acres of muscle bound, stainless steel appliances.   Medieval because of the handle peppered doors between the tall appliances and the luxurious stone!   Oh yea..in case you hadn’t noticed that blue stone on top of the free standing serving table...The Mogul thinks that it defines the entire space and is absolutely beautiful!   Some people perceive contemporary kitchen design to be cold and clinical but this design dispels this notion completely! The Mogul approves.
