More Colourful than a Clive!

This kitchen certainly has some personality with strong colours creating a flamboyant picture upon a template that has been tried and tested.   The overall backbone of this kitchen design is safe and traditional with the creators using square raised panelled doors and thick set fluted posts with ornate leafy features.   The foundation could be considered to be fussy resembling something from the hand of Clive Christian.   But this design is much more dramatic and left wing! This hand painted kitchen is alive with colour which has been chosen from a palette individual to the client.   This kitchen is a commissioned piece of art.   It is important for a client to feel comfortable with their choices and it amazes The Mogul how the diverse nature of the human soul can pull and skew basic design concepts and make them endlessly personal.   It is this personal element that drives kitchen design, allowing ideas to merge, and allowing the client to create a functional space that they admir

Lifestyle Kitchen

The lifestyle kitchen of today has become a much more streamlined environment with many designers now integrating the client’s lifestyle patterns into every design.    The boundaries are blurred between each room and even here the consumables zone is designed to be more neutral and could pass for something found in a living space! This design is stylish with elements of artistic flair.   The custom made worktop on the island creates the appearance of fabric, adding texture to this neutral design.   The extraction system contradicts the linear nature of the concept offering a feature curve and a glimpse into the future, and the ovens are placed on the wall like two functional artworks! Kitchen design is about function but is also about self expression and creating a social backdrop to your life!   The Mogul like this one!

Pretty Cool....are the ovens a little high?

Command Centre Kitchen

The kitchen is the strategic centre of operations in any home facilitating social planning and nourishment of the crew!   This kitchen command centre is custom made and appreciates all three of our worldly dimensions. Swiss company “Zbaren” have certainly created a fantastic space for James T. Kirk to rustle up some breakfast for his Klingon friends!

Room with a view

An architecturally defined kitchen by Gregory Phillips!

Kitchen For a Paper House

This origami inspired space is the realisation of the clients dream and the fulfilment of the architect’s vision! The kitchen is perfectly absorbed into the overall design by using a finish that matches the surrounding architecture.   But this kitchen is still making its presence felt!   The long continuous slab of black granite dominates the design offering the viewer a strong contrast to the subdued background.   The cantilever appears to be endless causing the eye to appreciate its size.   The creators at Studio Octopi have also integrated the potentially problematic structural column into the island design to make it seem as though it was always meant to be! Reflective and colourful light is allowed to enter the room from numerous angles animating the space, add to this the large door that opens onto a granite clad terrace and this kitchen is allowed to travel outside!

Defining Space

This Key Cucine kitchen certainly helps to define the space.   Lovely!

Black Kitchen For The Upwardly Mobile!

The kitchen you own is now as important as the car you drive because in certain circles it will be a reflection of your identity and tastes!   This kitchen is black and it is beautiful, presenting itself as the perfect companion for the upwardly mobile!   This is a statement kitchen designed to become the perfect functional backdrop to any social event.   Big distances between functional elements may mean that you hire the cook to save your feet! Top marks for the styling in this image.   The Mogul particularly likes the portable TV...Wonderful!   A blast from the past!

Boudoir Kitchen

European kitchen design can be seen by some as being cold, linear and heartless.   This design by Brummel Cucine contradicts this notion as it is opulent and self expressive throwing us back to the time of Louis XVI.    Clean lines are exchanged for suggestive curves encouraging a softer and arguably more inviting ambience.   This kitchen reminds The Mogul of a French boudoir, even though it has been made by Italians!   The island is feminine but dominant and has a beautifully smooth lacquered finish; but just like any self respecting boudoir, it holds a secret.   Get to know this kitchen well enough and it will reveal a “Shape Shifting” past!   This kitchen also reminds The Mogul of Clive Christian’s style!

Money can't buy you love.......

....................but it will buy you a nice kitchen!

L Shaped Kitchen

This kitchen has quality written all over it.   The materials and appliances used are luxurious and this is matched by good design thinking.   There is a solid appreciation about who will use the room and how they will use it.   Aesthetics, functionality, social interaction and mood have all been considered! The kitchen is the dominant feature of this open plan and multi functional space and the L-shaped island is designed to match and service the architectural layout of the room.   There is clear demarcation between functional and social areas and there are clear spaces connecting each social zone.   This kitchen by Dream Design places the cook in the centre of the action enabling them to interact with family and guests in both the dining and living areas almost simultaneously!     The designer has paid special attention to ensure the sink was placed on the dining room side of the island allowing for easy access to the sink and dish washer after every meal. There is continu

Wedged White Island

This is a great island.   It is social, functional and shows artistic flare.   It is actually so simple it’s brilliant! The Mogul approves!

White Room

This building is designed to be an angular canvas which encourages light to present itself differently at different times of the day.   It is therefore appropriate that the kitchen is minimal and white.    Clean linear lines and the removal of the handles dilute the kitchen as it becomes absorbed into the architecture. To truly understand kitchen design there must be an appreciation of the architecture.   There must also be an understanding of the psychological priorities of those who will interact with the kitchen.

Nice Kitchen

Simple but looks great!  In a showroom or your home lighting and mood is everything!

Curved Kitchen Island

This is cool.   The Mogul feels that although this design appears futuristic it is actually softened enough to become commercially acceptable.   The curved island is nothing new, the tall bank of units containing the appliances is nothing new, but the quirky modular framework of the island and the funky open shelves are new, making this design different. The impact of the design is increased by the dropped ceiling contour matching that of the island!   Add ceiling lights and this is architecture and kitchen in perfect harmony!
