Where do you want the Fridge?

This is a luxurious space which has been enhanced through the introduction of a “shape shifting" kitchen.  This kitchen is designed to have its functionality neutralised when placed in a standby position, only to be revealed when the sliding panels move across the open shelf unit.
The use of open shelves in a contrasting colour tilts this design towards contemporary living room furniture and the designer has been careful to add the same contrasting feature into the island adding continuity to the design.
This is a great example of how good kitchen designers are considering how the kitchen, in an open plan space, can be the backdrop to our home lives.
However, The Mogul wonders about the two American style fridge freezers that are positioned along the left hand wall.  Their presence compromises the overall concept and it could strongly be argued that other options should have been considered!

  1. Ugh. The description "American-style" fills me with shame. And I agree with you, the inclusion of those appliances throws the whole design.

Functional Thinking

Purity is a desirable attribute especially if used to disguise complexity!  This design manages to encourage a lingering desire to admire, the type of art gallery presence that demands quiet contemplation to fully appreciate.  By cleverly layering simple linear forms and combining a reserved colour palette this under stated design could be considered a masterpiece of functional thinking! Think about it!

Functional Fabric

The modern kitchen has become an iconic symbol of fashionable style.   It is therefore appropriate that kitchen designers should now keep their eye firmly fixed on the latest textiles and fabrics to grace the runways of Europe especially now that fabric doors can be specified in their next kitchen design! The Meccanica Kitchen by Valcucine evaporates the traditional rigidity of kitchen installation by using an innovative frame work system that can be transported easily, can be assembled by the end user and is 100% recyclable.   It even comes with an end of life cycle “take back guarantee” whereby your old kitchen will be collected, sand blasted and re-coated so that it can re-enter the production cycle!   Oh yea and did The Mogul mention that the doors are fabric!! The Mogul knows that this is going to be a huge hit with the more Eco conscious inhabitants of the planet as the concept dramatically reduces the  carbon footprint of a kitchen. ...

Celestial Island Cluster

Managing to understand and control proportion whilst delivering exemplary functional performance and unrivalled aesthetic impact is a skill which kitchen designers continually hone. Sitting majestically in the centre of the room this island cluster presents itself like an elevated alter of style complete with a ceiling drop that can deliver celestial messages direct to the Gods of design! Soft approachable geometry and the precise sightline and functional arrangement ensure that the impressive architectural scaling must cower down in the presence of this functional master piece. An island is one thing, but if you have enough space why don’t you let your imagination explore the endless possibilities of multi-island arrangements. The Mogul Approves!
